Other comments John Thompson's second wife arrived in the colony as the wife
of William Hunt, another Royal Veteran. After Wm Hunt died she married Alexander
Fulerton, also a Royal Veteran. Her third husband was John Thompson, also, of
course a Royal Veteran. Eleanor's daughter Eleanor Williams Hunt married a James
Thompson, possibly a brother of John Thompson, in 1830. [This is consistent
with the evidence I found in the Samlesbury register: There was one older child
of John and Alice Thompson: James Thompson, b. 30 Dec. 1784, bapt. 30 Jan.,
1785. The name James there is significant because it was the name of John the
father's grandfather. DB] Eleanor Hunt-Fullerton-Thompson died at her daughter's
residence in Campbell Town, aged 69, in 1859. ... three of John Thompson's children
(by his first wife) survived to found families in the colony, Elizabeth m. John
Denny in Launceston in 1846, they moved to NW Coast as pioneer settlers at Melrose.
John Burns Thompson became the owner of the "Bull's Head" tavern in
Charles St., Launceston, and married Charlotte Ives. Augustus married Mary Ann
Featherstone in 1864; she died at Oatlands in 1878 and Augustus died in Hobart
in 1884.
